MILE HIGH BISCUITS (OR SCONES)
3 Cups Flour 4 1/2 Tsp. Baking Powder 3/4 Tsp. Cream of Tartar 3/4 Tsp. Salt 3/4 Cup Crisco Golden Shortening 1 Large Egg 1 Cup Milk (2 1/2 Tbsp. Sugar if using for Strawberry Shortcake) Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Make a well. Mix egg and milk together. Pour into well. Mix well. Turn out onto lightly floured board. Knead gently a few times. Shape into a round, but do not press down or use a rolling pin! Make sure it is about 1" high. C |
