FRENCH HONEY BREAD
This is my favorite "everyday" bread machine recipe. (The "old" slices make delicious croutons.) 1 1/8 cup water 1 tbsp. honey 1 tbsp. olive oil 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp sugar 3 cups bread flour 3 tsp. yeast Add ingredients as directed by your bread machine instructions. Bake on regular or quick cycle. (I use regular, medium crust, large loaf.) If using the quick cycle use instant or rapid rise yeast. Wonderful, slightly sweet French bread with a light, crispy crust. A great dinner bread. Remember to put in olive oil first--then the honey will just slide right off the measuring spoon! I use Red Star Bread Machine Yeast--I seem to have the most luck with that in any of my recipes when I use my machine. Also, recipe calls for 2 1/2 tsp yeast, but I generally use 1 tsp. yeast per cup of flour. (From Donna German's "Bread Machine Cookbook 1") Enjoy! Pam |
