DIRT CAKE/SAND CAKE Ok, this one is great for all you gardeners. If you haven't had it before, most people are shocked the first time they see it. It really looks like great potting soil or a big bucket of sand! 2 packages oreo cookies 2 8 oz packages cream cheese 1 stick butter 1 cup powdered sugar 4 cups milk 2 3.9 oz. packages instant chocolate pudding 24 oz cool whip 1 terra cotta flower pot that will hold 5 quarts 1 small shovel 1 artificial flower (or edible flower) Set aside one whole cookie if the flower pot has a hole in it. In a food processor grind the oreos (entire cookie, do not remove cream center) until it is a fine crumb (it will look like potting soil). Set aside. In food processor or mixer combine cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar. In a large mixing bowl combine milk and pudding. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding and mix well. Fold in the cool whip. Place the whole cookie in the bottom of the flower pot to use as a plug. Starting and ending with the cookie mixture, layer the cookies and pudding mixture until pot is full. Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Add flower and serve using the small shovel. Other ideas: 1. Add gummy worms and candy rocks to the dirt mixture for a kids cake. 2. Substitute vanilla sandwich cookies and vanilla pudding, serving in a plastic beach pail with a plastic beach shovel for a Sand Cake. You can also half this recipe for a seven inch flower pot or smaller beach bucket. Source: unknown From Andrea |
