FARMHOUSE CAKE

2 1/2 Cups Flour
1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
3/4 Cup Light Brown Sugar
3/4 Cup Butter or Margarine
2 Beaten Eggs plus enough milk to make 1/2 Cup
1/2 Cup Currants
1/2 Cup Golden Raisins
1/2 Cup Dark Raisins
1/2 Cup MIxed Candied Fruit Peel
1/2 Cup Glace Cherries
1/2 Cup chopped Almonds or Walnuts

Grease 7" round pan (I used 8") and line (I used parchment paper). Combine flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. With a wooden spoon, add brown sugar. Add butter and mix till like bread crumbs. Add egg and milk mixture. Beat. Add fruits and nuts. Mix well. Spoon into cake pan.
Bake 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hrs. at 350 degrees. (I'd check it after 1 hr. - I baked it 1 1/4 hrs. and it was a bit overdone for me - all ovens are different)

To help keep moist, put tray of water on bottom rack during cooking.

Can also add 2 TBSP. brandy to cake mixture.
