MY MOTHER'S POUND CAKE
1 stick butter 1/2 cup Crisco shortening 3 cups sugar 6 eggs 31/2 cups Swans Down Cake Flour 1 teaspoon baking powder Salt (pinch) 1-1/4 cup sweet milk 2 teaspoons vanilla flavor Cream butter and Crisco very well in an electric mixer. Add 3 cups sugar (one at a time) creaming well with each addition. Add 6 eggs (one at a time) and beat well after each one with mixer set at higher speed. Sift cake flour, baking powder and salt. Add 1/2 of this, 1/2 of milk, rest of flour mixture, rest of milk. Continue beating extremely well. Add vanilla flavor. Beat well. Grease and flour a tube pan. Pour mixture in pan. Bake 1 hour and 15 min. at 350 degrees. Cool. Enjoy. Antoinette Klein |
