I bought a copy of Winter Solstice to read during my flight from Miami to San Juan, this past August. I'm so glad I did! Ever since I finished it I began to look for your other novels and short stories and found several, including the book "The world of Rosamunde Pilcher". This last one made me feel I have known you for a long time. I wish you a belated Happy Birthday and I hope you continue writing novels that really lift our spirit and make us feel glad to be alive to enjoy the simple and important things in life. |

"The Shell Seekers" was given to me as a present. Your books catch my attention in a way that I always miss the characters at th beggining. I find myself worried about them, trying to find a solution for their problems. I truly get into the story. Your books make us think and understand that life is what it is - with pain and grief and then it can be happy again. Thank you a lot for helping me build a better life every day. Keep writing, keep making us happy. Clarissa Gouveia, 19 years old, from Brazil. |

An author who understands the difference between "romance" and "sex" - her price is above rubies!! ( Writing sex is so mechanical he did this, then this, followed by that twice etc etc) . Whereas the romance in "September","Sleeping Tiger" and "Under Gemini is delightful, never boring, and can be read again and again. Thankyou Rosamunde Pilcher |

Dear Mrs pilcher
I appreciate very much your focus on the many
wonderfull aspects of life, that pertain to good
writing.well researched information and as little sex and violence as possible. If one wanted these things there all around us. I
especially like that sometimes the characters
carry over from one book to another, much like
the author Elizabeth Gouge,circa 1950.
I felt it was important to write,as I recently
read an article stating that your daughters
tease you for your sparse amount of sexual
content. I for one enjoy your writing because of
your commitment to good writing that involves
research,imagination,and talent.
Thank you

Happy Birthday, Ms. Pilcher! I am an Anglophile who has recently discovered
your gift for storytelling. Reading about

all Americans. On your Birthday, may you know the joy that you bring so many others.

Thank you for "September". It is my favourite book. My daughter Ana Laura, almost 17 years old, was born in September 22, like you.
Here in Brazil, September 22 is the last day of the Winter, then Spring comes.
I love the Scotland you describe in your books, and someday, when I can I will go there.
You are wonderful!

Dear Ms. Pilcher,
Am so grateful for this way to thank you for all your wonderful books. I started out with the Shell Seekers and have eagerly searched the library shelves for all your books. Have just finished Winter Solstice which truly touched me. I love how you take the characters' disparate and sometimes desperate situations and draw the threads together. Most of all, I appreciate how goodness and virtue overcome adversity. Am also struck by how "with the times you are". This seemed especially true with the challenges and resolutions in Winter Solstice.
Happy birthday and may you have many more -- a selfish wish if it means many more books.
With very best wishes, a devoted reader :) |

HAPPY BIRTHDAY (A LITTLE BIT EARLY) ROSAMUNDE. TO SAY THAT I HAVE ENJOYED YOUR BOOKS WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT. TO SAY THAT I HAVE LIVED THEM MIGHT BE MORE CORRECT. THE FIRST ONE I READ WAS UNDER GEMINI. I THINK THE NEXT ONE I READ WAS THE SHELL SEEKERS, WHICH STILL REMAINS A GREAT FAVORITE (I WOULD LOVE TO SAY I KNEW PENELOPE). I ALSO REALLY LIKED WINTER SOLSTCE. ALL OF YOUR BOOKS REMIND ME OF THE CONNECTEDNESS OF ALL OF US. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK, AND I HOPE ONE IS PLANNED FOR PUBLICATION SOON. AGAIN, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! |

Dear Rosamund,
I hope you have a very wonderful birthday this
September! It is also my birthday month (the 28th), and it thrills me to share this month with you. I started out reading WINTER SOLSTICE
and am now nearly finished with THE SHELL SEEKERS. I have only read these two, but you can be sure I shall read them all. It is so
unusual to find an older woman as the main character in a book and for that one thing I am
truly grateful. I am always asking "Where is MY
magazine?", as everything is geared toward the young these days. I think older women's stories
are more satisfying than the stories--really incomplete, of the young. We older women (I am nearly 72) have stories to tell too! I am hoping
you will write SUMMER SOLSTICE so I can see what happens next with Elfrida and all her friends! Don't leave us hanging--I got to know these people so well I am loath to let them go.
Best wishes on your birthday, and many more to come! Much love, Barbara Ames |

Ms. Pilcher:
You are my favorite author. I have read all of your books; the "Shell Seekers" is my favorite. I purchased it new when it came out in paperback, and I have read it 5 times since. It's a little ratty, dog-eared on the edges, but the pages are soft and welcome. Each time I read it, it's like a meeting with an old friend. You have a wonderful, most-admired talent. Bravo to you for sharing your talent with your readers.
My grandparents are from Scotland; I've never been, but I hope to see Scotland before my time is through. Either way, the pictures you have drawn in my mind will always be with me. Thank you again. God bless. |

Dear Mrs. Pilcher, I want to wish you all the very best for your birthday!
It's been some years that I have discovered your books and I have to admit that they have been a real miracle! They have escorted me through happy & even more important, through particularly sad times. They absolutely helped me from loosing my mind when the man I loved so very much, left this world.Ill never forget the injections of courage and strength to go on I was able to acquire page after page, reading your books. They have been a kind of shelter to me and I always feel like "going home" every time I read some of them (you see I have been reading them over & over again and they always seem captivating to me). Thank you so very much for these precious moments I have been able to experience through your novels. |

I discovered Rosamunde Pilcher's books years ago. I reread them every winter and summer. My mother tells me I should make new friends. I prefer to come back to my old friends even though I know what is going to happen. Her books are the perfect books to read in a hot steamy bath with a cup of tea or lying on the beach with a cup of iced coffee. I discovered Winter Solstice a few days ago and was thrilled. I hope there will be more books to come because even though I love rereading about all of my old friends I do enjoy making new friends with Pilcher's new charactors and books. Thank you and please keep writing! Happy Birthday! |

Your insight into the feelings and personalities of a wide range of characters make your books wonderful journeys. I have recently begun to record your latest book for my Nanny, who will be turning 90 this October. She was an avid reader, but is almost completely blind now. She is from England and Gramps was from Scotland, so I'm sure she'll enjoy it, as am I. She is the kind of person that would be a character in your novels - she has lead an interesting life, like you.
Thanks again!

Dear Rosamund,
First of all Happy Birthday!
I've just finished reading a wonderful piece of literature: Winter Solstice.
I,ve lived so closely with the five main characters - Elfrida, oscar, Carrie, Sam and Lucy - and travelled in thoughts to the North of Scotland. I've experienced a wonderful European Christmas and I've had many emotions...
I Thank God for having such a strong habit of readind. I've read most of your books and I always feel so happy flyig with the wings of imagination, although, I have to say, I feel pretty sad as I get to the end of the book and have to say good bye to the characters.
I Thank you for being this extraordinary author who knows so well how to conduct us through this enchanted world of love, romance and fantasy. You elevate my spirit and bring beautiful days into my life.
Yours sincerely

Miss Pilcher, not only do you tell a great story but you give us authentic people with kindly values.....and, on the other hand, the villains are SO disgusting. I will be sad to finish Winter Solstice...but then, I will just have to look up another one of your little gems. Please keep writing !!! PPS: Are you anything like Elfrida? |
