I have read about six of Rosamunde Pilcher's books and just love them. They are so full of detail and full of wonderful characters. When I read her books I almost go there myself. They are enjoyable and always leave me with a "warm fuzzy" feeling.

I was given the Shell Seekers by my boyfriend's grandmother, and what a gift! I fell in love with Penelope, Sophie, Olivia, Antonia, Cosmo, Lawrence and Richard. She describes exactly what I want to know about: what people look like, what they eat, how their homes are decorated and what they wear. I also love Coming Home just because it is filled with such richness. I love that Judith ends up with Jeremy. Also, how brilliant that Noel is in SS and September and changes so much, presumably because of his mother's death and Alexa's love. I can't wait for her next novel.

Rosamunde Pilcher really captures the Cornish country atmosphere opening the eyes of even those of us lucky enough to live so close to some of the landscapes and communities that inspired some of her writing. As a local tourist guide, living but a few miles from 'Porthkerris' I have been asked so many times to develop a Rosamunde Pilcher tour which is what I am now engaged upon. Needless to say I am really enjoying relating the real locations in her 'cornish based' novels to the fictitious names which she gave them. They really do exist!

What a wonderful site! I started reading Roseamund Pilcher about 10 years ago. September was being reviewed in Good Housekeeping. So I bought Shell Seekers and loved it then read September and many of the shorter novels. I had heard a few years ago that she had written under a pen name and so I'm excited to check those books out. My in-laws just returned from a trip to England and Scotland, wish I could have gone along. Hopefully one day I can visit myself.

Just got a computer and seeing what info I could find on Rosamunde Pilcher was a priority. Thank you for such a lovely surprise! I've read and reread her books for years. I love her descriptions - and occasionally sit down for a splendid tea with scones and lemon curd. The story that makes my day is a quick read - Home for the Day - so true to life! Bless all of our husbands hearts! My girlfriend and I would love to visit the UK some day and you can be sure we will look up locations as mentioned in her books.
I heard an interview on the radio with her about a year ago and she stated that at age 75, she was not going to write another novel - our loss! But on reading your site, it sounds like her son is following in her footsteps so I will be heading to Chapter ASAP. Thanks again for this site, it so nice to learn about like-minded people!

I've probably given away 100 copies of "The Blue Bedroom" as it is the perfect gift for someone who's recuperating from an illness or needs a comfortable, soothing read.
One of my most favorite memories is, once when I was in London waiting to board a train to Edinburgh, I discovered one of her books I had not yet read. I saved it until I was on the train, traveling north. Then, while reading about Scotland, I was looking out the train AT Scotland. It was a kind of out of body experience to be there at the same time I was reading. I recall that moment again and again!

My friend introduced me to Rosamunde Pilcher's books. :) I have yet to stop reading them. I absolutely love the intertwining character portraits in Evening Class. So far, Shell Seekers is the same way. I love that style of writing that just pulls you in and makes you feel like you are there and part of the families and relationships that you are reading about. There is only one thing that I don't like about her books - you can't put them down when you know that you really should. :)

Sandy, you've done an amazing job with this site!
I've only read the three long novels-- Coming Home, September, and The Shell Seekers, but I think that I've read them all a million times. Coming Home is one of the two novels (along with A Tree Grows in Brooklyn) that I must pick up and re-read at least once every two months! It prompted me to visit Penzance during the year I was at school in England, and I loved it so much that I went back last summer. During my second trip, I went horseback riding, and I admitted to the guide that the novel had inspired my visit. He laughed and told me to look over to my left, because that was her son's farm. Just one question, though-- several of these entries have alluded to a new novel, which should be published this year. Is this Nancherrow, or is that only for television? Any definite news on a new one?

I came across Rosamunde Pilcher by accident...bought The Shell Seekers because of the front cover. Absolutely loved the books. I think the way that Shell Seekers and September are connected is very special.
My husband groans every time "Coming Home" comes off the bookshelf again. Read it so many times that the pages fell out. Once, after a move, my copy went missing. Heaven forbid!! Coming Home deprived for more than a month. Hubby moved heaven and earth to get another copy!!
Will the "Coming Home" telemovie/mini series ever make it to Australia?? If you know anything about it, please email me ta Anna

Ms. Pilcher's ability to evoke a time and place makes reading her novels a complete escape from my hectic life. I too wish she were more prolific, but consider the quality of her work compared to the churn'em out school of bestsellers. Worth the wait.
I have 6 children and a full time job, and the leisurely pace of these works does more for me than the sleep I sacrifice to read them!

Pilcher is the very best. At my age I have read everything written. Why have we had to wait so long for a decent writer. I also enjoy very much Maeve Binchy when I am awaiting a new book from Rosamunde Pilcher. You have a great website. You have a wonderful family. Are you having any spring weather yet ? The oak trees have already played havoc with everybody down here. The allergies, sinus stuff is worse than it ever has been. Enjoyed your website, enjoyed very much meeting you. My young neighbor has just had twins and is finding it hard to cope. I shall tell her about you having twins with two small ones in house already.
