Your web site is wonderful. I came across it a couple of years ago and am ashamed it's taken me this long to sign your guestbook. Shell Seekers was my first read, and I then promptly found out what other books she had written, called the library and put them on reserve. Am enjoying Winter Solstice - how appropriate to be reading it at this time of year!! I hope she'll write another one, if not, then it certainly must be time for Robin to write his second. Or has he by now? Merry Christmas to everyone and a very blessed New Year.

When I visited this site, I was thrilled to learn about the Jane Fraser books which I did not know existed!! I can't wait to discover them. I will put them on my Christmas list. Sandy do you know where to find a list of Ros' short stories that used to appear in magazines like Redbook, etc? That is where I first discovered what I had been missing when I read my first one. I remember one with line, "her thoughts were like oranges in a string bag...." that I would like to read again. Can you help me find those stories?!

Rosamunde Pilcher's books are a way for me to relive warm childhood memories of close relationships and occasions. I also see myself in some of the characters and their situations. I loved the characters of Vi in September, and Tuppy in Under Gemini. I guess this is because I was so close to my own grandmother. Anyway, I appreciate having discovered her in the 1992 novel section of Good Housekeeping Magazine. I'm hooked forever!

I was so impressed with how well Pilcher captures her readers attention. A friend of mine reccommended The Shell Seekers to me in my freshman year, telling me that she had read it in a college class so I decided to give it a try. Once I began reading I was amazed at how fast the time went by. I felt like I was actually with Penelope. I could feel Olivias frustration with Nancy...It was all so real and vivid. Then when I went to pick up Coming Home and I saw how thick it was I never thought I would make it...I finished it in a weeks time, if even that. Since then I have re-read Coming home three times and am currently starting The Shell Seekers Once again. I have read all of the books that I have been able to find/order in the local booksotores and have raided the libraries for the rest. I am greatly looking forward to reading a new novel as soon as its avaliable. If anyone has any information on new books please email me.

I first discovered R.Pilcher's stories in "Woman and Home" about 20 years ago and I immediately was captivated by her way of portraying peoples lives. Every time I got a new issue of the magazine the first things I did was to look if there was one her stories in it. Unfortunately, "Woman and Home ceased to be available here in Montevideo, but to my great suprise and joy a few years ago I could find her books in English in the bookshops in town. The last book I read by her was "Coming Home". I love her descriptions of landscape and characters and, as a teacher of Englis as a Foreign Language I found R.Pilchers books very helpful to give my students a better idea of British life and culture. I'm now looking forwrd to reading her last book and I have already ordered a copy of her son's book: "An ocean apart". I'm very glad to be able to say all this, and, though late, I wish R. pilcher all the best for her 75th year.

I got ahold of the video set "Coming Home." I was a bit disappointed. The story is so alive and they did not translate the characters very well but overall, it was interesting. No one has been able to capture the essence of her books yet. I love all the books but my three favs are of course, Shellseekers...September...Coming Home. I love the legacy going on with Robin's book. Not everyone has a rare gift for making the character seems so alive and real. The "Battlefield Band" from Scotland had a ballad about St. Valery and I thought of Gus when I heard that song. Does anyone know if there is a film version of "September." If not, I would love to see that made into a film but translated to screen with the characters a little more intact.

I started to read Rosamunde Pilcher's books only about one months ago, and "The Carousel" was the first I read. It seems to me as to be in Cornwall!!! I have already been in England, two times, to improve my English; I went to Cormwall and I know the atmosphere of those wonderful places that Rosamunde describe. This allow me to appreciate more and more the stories... I'd like to come back there, one day... Rosamunde's books are well-done!! There's no one else that can communicate by writing the atmosphere, the magic... of that places. My purpose is to read all Rosamunde's books, but I hope she will continue to write with the same cleverness of always! P.S. Sorry for my English.

Comments:
I rented "The Shell Seekers" movie last night & was highly disappointed. Why make a movie if it deviates so much from the book? First of all, the whole point in Mrs. Pilcher's novel for who Penelope is as a person was the death of Richard, and in the movie - he is alive! I realize that adapting a screenplay from a novel is different, but goodness - why deviate so much as to completely change the story - I am embarrased so much for Mrs. Pilcher that her beautiful story was destroyed. The acting was horrible, and no offense to Mrs. Lansbury, but she is the absolute wrong person to portray Penelope. Maybe I am being a little harsh, but I don't think so. Mrs. Pilcher should be a little more choosy about who is selected to draft a screenplay from her novel.

What a joy to discover this website regarding an author whom I find to be the ABSOLUTE FINEST in descriptive prose. The fabulous Mrs. Pilcher possesses a remarkable ability to capture detail and intricately weave all of one's senses completely into the lives of characters filled with both a common simplicity of goodness and appreciation, as well as with the idiosyncracies of human emotion. She has left in my mind's eye so many vivid images of the beauty and splendor found in nature undisturbed and in the spirit of a family's home. A thousand thanks to this grand lady for sharing with us her unique imagination. Such inspiration to envision and live life with such a beautiful perspective. I have read all of her books and look forward now to finding "Jane Fraser's" works. Thank you kindly, Mrs. Pilcher, for sharing your unique gifts that never stop giving!

The RP book I've yet to read: The Blue Bedroom

Comments:
September is my favorite, having read it four or five times. It's like visiting old friends. I especially love Isabel and Archie, would love to find them again in another novel. I've read Coming Home three times, Snow in April four or five times and I think most of RP's other books. I call RP's books "comfort books", because they are like slipping into a comfortable old bathrobe and settling in on a cold day. May RP be blessed with a healthy, long life and may we, her loyal fans, be rewarded with more books. Incidentally, Robin's book was wonderful, can't wait for his next!

She has a real gift for creating characters that you care about and can sometimes identify with. How I would love to visit Cornwall! The only problem with Rosamunde Pilcher books is that there are not enough of them!

I was so glad to find this website dedicated to my favourite author. I think I read all of the books which were published in Germany and some of the english too. I like the description of the landscapes and the caracters. All the books are to me like good friends: I am longing to see (and to read) them again and again and ... Sandy, CONGRATULATIONS, you have done a great job with this site!!! As I am new in the Net I would like some female pen friends about my age who would like to e-mail with me. I dont want to put my name on one of the pen friendswebsites because of the obscure answers you get. So if someone is willing to write to me, don`t hesitate .....

I love all books I've read most of them twice - but I do not like the films too much because I love the way Rosamunde Pilcher writes - and the language and the description of Great Britain of Rosamunde Pilcher cannot be shown in a film! However she is my favourite writer and I'm looking foreward to her new book very much! Rosamunde Pilcher: thanks a lot for all the great moments I had while reading your books! It's a world full of love, peace and beauty! Love from Vienna, Karin

Rosamunde Pilcher encaptures the Cornish landscape and atmosphere with poignance. I enjoy introducing committed fans and those new to her novels to the landscapes, settings and culture portrayed in the novels set in west Cornwall. This I do by taking grou s on guided walks particularly in the Lelant /St.Ives area and I love it!

Comments:
I feel ashamed that I have only come across Rosamunde Pilcher, two years ago when Coming Home arrived on our TV screens. I have watched Coming Home three times now and think it is a wonderful piece of drama. I have recently received both Coming Home and Nancherrow on video. Could you please tell me whether boths books are better than the TV version? Does it still warrant a read? Could you please recommend a book that I could read of Rosamunde Pilcher taking into consideration that I am a 28 year old male. One last question, why did'nt Emily Mortimer play Judith in Nancherrow? I hate it when that happens, she is a great actress and hope to see she her playing more TV/movie parts in the future.
